[San Francisco, CA] Twin Peaks (501 Twin Peaks Blvd)

It's hard not to see the Twin Peaks when they are 925ft tall. They are the second tallest hills in San Francisco, second to Mount Davidson that reaches up to 928 ft, but the twin peaks are double the fun.

To add a little bit of history, as well as, humor, the early Spanish Conquistadors in early 18th Century, called these Twin Peaks "Los Pechos de La Chola", which translates to "Breast of the Indian Maiden". Today they are called "Eureka" and "Noe", but mostly known as the Twin Peaks, and one of San Francisco most popular attractions.

What makes these peaks so popular? Well the view is quite spectacular, but one thing most visitors don't realize is that the twin peaks is a small, sweet hiking nature preserve. There are trails that lead up to each peak, and a viewing platform with telescopes to get a closer look at the city near the base of the hills. The Twin Peaks is also home to the endangered Mission Blue Butterfly, and is one of the last remaining habitats where this butterfly can be found.

So come take a drive up the windy road and see one of the few untouched habitats left in the City of San Francisco. While you are here, climb to the tops of Los Pechos de La Chola, and admire the view of the great city below.

Happy Wandering, Alice.
