[San Jose, CA] Municipal Rose Garden

This Rose Garden is goals. This is what I would love to have in my dream backyard or even front yard for all the neighbors to see and envy. With over 4,000 rose shrubs and a beautiful, circular fountain perfectly positioned at the center of a ring of different color roses, the Municipal Rose Garden is one of the most romantic places in the great city of San Jose.

To really have that full bloom experience, go visit in April and May when most of the roses are blossoming, and the weather is warm and sunny but not too hot. The weekends are jammed packed with photo shoots, locals, and parties, so if you want a time of serenity, come on the weekdays around noon, where you can skip the early-walking crowd, and have enough time to take in the beautiful garden before it is swarmed with students when school gets out.

Here are a few fun facts that I always like to throw in because it's something that I look for before I go anywhere new, and it's always nice to know the history or any special fact about a place, building, or sculpture, etc.

The Municipal Rose Garden was completed on April 7th, 1937. There are 189 varieties of rose bushes in this 5.5 acre garden. The garden is maintained by Santa Clara County Rose Society and Vvolunteers. It is a popular place for wedding photoshoots, and in May, prom photoshoots!

Open Daily: 8AM - Half Hour after Sunset
Located: Naglee Ave & Dana Ave, San Jose, CA

Places nearby:
Guadalupe River Park (1.3 Miles)
Santa Clara University (1.9 Miles)

This is a great spot to chill. Bring your coffee and a book or sketchbook, and sit in the shade provided most generously by a small grove of redwood trees, and allow the gushing of water from the foundation soothe your mind, and spend a few hours immerse in your thoughts or on paper.
(There is a Starbucks across the street for that cup of coffee.)

Oh, and did I mention it's free entry with plenty of street parking on the weekdays?
But good luck on the weekends.

Happy Wandering! Alice
